For many years, W.Bro Roy Nunn, PJGD, of Woodrolfe Lodge No. 8354 at Tollesbury, ran the Mid-Essex Gentlemen’s Masonic Dining Club alongside his long-time friend and fellow Past Grand Officer, W.Bro Brian Wright, PJGD, DSEM. The Club was a treasured part of the Masonic calendar, bringing together Brethren for fellowship, fine dining, and friendship.
Sadly, like many organisations, the Club saw a significant decline in membership following the Covid pandemic, and the difficult decision was made to close its doors.
In a final act of kindness and generosity, the remaining members of the Club decided to donate the £1,306 left in their bank account to the TLC Essex Appeal—a donation that instantly qualifies them as Bronze Patrons.
Big Ted and I were invited to Woodrolfe Lodge to receive the donation, with the original intention of W.Bro Roy Nunnmaking the presentation. Unfortunately, Roy was unwell and unable to attend, but with the kind permission of the Worshipful Master, W.Bro Gerry Munson, W.Bro Brian Wright kindly stepped in to present the funds on behalf of his friend and fellow founder.
To all the members of the Dining Club—thank you for turning a farewell into a lasting legacy of care and compassion. Your donation will help bring comfort to hundreds of children across Essex.
And to Roy—get well soon. Your generosity and service are truly appreciated.
