“Thank You for My Teddy!” – A Message from Teddy & Alfie

Every so often, a message lands in our inbox that reminds us exactly why the TLC Essex Appeal exists—and recently, we received one of those special messages from Maria Blanche, a proud Nan whose grandson, Teddy, was taken into Colchester Hospital for treatment, accompanied by his brother Alfie.
Maria asked us to share Teddy’s message, along with a shoutout to the wonderful staff at Clacton Hospital, who she says “are fab”—and we couldn’t agree more.
Here’s what Teddy wanted to say:
“Hello, I just wanted to feedback to say ‘thank you’ for my teddy.
They make such a difference when I am feeling poorly and need to go into hospital.
The nurses were very kind and also gave one to my brother, which made me even more happy.
From Alfie & Teddy (I liked being named after other Teddies)” ❤️
We’re thrilled to hear that both Teddy and Alfie were comforted by their TLC bears during what must have been a difficult time. And we’re told that Teddy (in the buggy!) now has one of each colour TLC teddy—a full collection of cuddly companions!
Thank you, Maria, for sharing this beautiful message—and thank you, Teddy and Alfie, for making our day.
Stories like yours remind us why we do what we do—one teddy, one smile, one child at a time.
