Celebrating 75 Years of Beeleigh Abbey Lodge — and Supporting TLC Essex

Last Wednesday, Big Ted and I had the pleasure of visiting Beeleigh Abbey Lodge No. 7017 in Maldon — and what a memorable evening it was.

The Lodge was celebrating an incredible 75 years since its consecration, and the night was filled with a wonderful sense of tradition and pride. We had the joy of watching W.Bro Miles Girdlestone carry out the Installation of his successor, W.Bro Jonathan Wenlock, with care and confidence. The moment was made all the more special by the fact that Jonathan’s father was one of the Founders of the Lodge — a poignant reminder of the generational strength of Freemasonry.
At the Festive Board, I was invited to say a few words about the Teddies for Loving Care Essex Appeal — sharing how it all began in Essex 24 years ago and has now grown to become a global initiative, bringing comfort to children in hospital settings across the world.
I then had the honour of presenting the new Master with a TLC Essex Patron Certificate, recognising the Lodge’s generous £800 donation to the Appeal.
Thank you, brethren of Beeleigh Abbey Lodge, for marking your milestone year with kindness and compassion. Your support helps us continue our mission to provide teddy bears to children in distress — a small gesture that makes a big difference.
Here’s to your next 75 years of friendship, service, and community spirit!
